?!?! WTF, CALIFORNIA!
It is now being reported that it will take 1-2 months to fix the road! No Way!
There is a way to get around it, you just have to take 101 south to Paso Robles (2 hours south) cross over on rt 46 then head up north on the 1 (another 2 hours to Big Sur) So a 4 hour trip ONE WAY to get to Big Sur.
They are also talking about rerouting the Marathon/5k. The whole point of this run was to run on highway 1 in Big Sur and take in the incredible beauty.
Also, did you see the Tsunami video? Santa Cruz Harbor is still closed,
Now what's this all about Radiation exposure on the West Coast?
BOOO
So, I had this awesome thing planned for when my mom comes into town. I was going to take her to Big Sur and do a dual massage at Eslaen and bathe in these amazing springs. However...highway 1 is now closed because of a landslide and it's near impossible to get to Big Sur...they are saying it may take months to fix which means when Danielle and Matt come there is a chance we will not be able to go to Big Sur and Eslaen either...DOUBLE BOOO!!!
here's the damage.

A landslide south of the Rocky Creek Bridge has closed Highway 1, the California Highway Patrol reports on its website.
Northbound lanes are closed at the Bixby Bridge and southbound travelers are being stopped at Palo Colorado, the website says.
About 40 feet of roadway is "washed out," the CHP reports.
The slide was reported just after 5 p.m.
The CHP reports that the highway could be closed "potentially several days if not longer."
No one was injured, the CHP said.

Tsunami warnings in California
*the crowd is building to watch the tsunami
So we were awoken at 5 am from most of our family and friends warning us that we were under a Tsunami warning due Japan's horrible tragedy. Around 6:30am our road shuts down and police and firetrucks start rounding Pacific Grove and Monterey. All traffic had to be rerouted due to all ocean roads being closed. News instructed Monterey Bay residents to evacuate. I'm not gonna lie, it was kind of crazy. Our town became a ghost town within a few minutes. I dropped Joe off at work and came back home to pick up our valuables just in case. But then ignorance got the best of me and I went down to the water to take some photos of the waves. And honestly, it wasn't bad at all. The only scary part was Santa Cruz was affected by it which is about 30-40 miles north of us. The tide was literally pulling the boats in the Santa Cruz marina to crash into one another and capsize. All residents were strongly advised to evacuate.
But fortunately it passed, we were safe and the waves were not big at all. Pray for Japan, it's such a horrible tragedy.

Born This Way
Was reading CNN.com and stumbled upon Born-this-way-blog. It's a series of childhood photographs submitted by gay/lesbian/transgender adults. It's pretty fascinating.
Check-check it out
A photo/essay project for gay adults (of all genders) to submit childhood pictures and stories (roughly ages 2 to 12), reflecting memories & early beginnings of their innate LGBTQ selves. Nurture allows what nature endows. It's their nature, their truth!

.....
got our luggage no problem the following day (Tuesday)
We spent the rest of our trip visiting family and friends, Tuesday we went to Grandma and Grandpa Throm's then got dinner with Joe's best friend, A.J. and Katie (with their son, Eli), Joe's mom and Dave. Wednesday and Thursday we spent our time mourning Grandma Johnston with the wake and funeral. It was an emotional time. Friday I had my interview at Butler. The program at Butler is amazing. Not only do you work in a cohort for the entire program (same people, same time, same date for 2-3 years..which I love the consistency) but you graduate with not only a certification in School Counseling but they also allow you to take the National Counselor exam which gives you certification as a mental health therapist. So it's a dual certification degree and most colleges you have to do an additional year for that. The gentleman said that I meet the qualifications and should be expecting an acceptance letter soon. Also on a random note. The other advisor I met at Butler was on the same flight as Joe and I from Phx to Indy. We both experienced that horrible flight.
Friday night, Joe, Dave, Jenny and I went to the Vogue(concert venue) in Broad Ripple(trendy hot spot in Indianapolis) and saw an awesome cover band. I had wayyy to many sprites and vodka's. Saturday we went out to dinner for Darrell's birthday and then bowling. Got to see our cousin Jonathan and his lovely girlfriend Kelley. Also got to see Backer (he might come out to see us) Sunday we went out to dinner with the Johnston's at the Iron Skillet (home country cooking...fried chicken, apple butter, green's, onion soup..sooo good!)
We flew home Sunday night (no problems with the flight!)
Monday I caught up with our neighbors, got some coffee with Alison and went to Trader's Joe with Jeff and Merici. Went to the farmer's market and got some flowers and popcorn. Back to the grind of life here in California. Making fish tacos and drinking margaritas. haha
Alison and I are making a bucket list of to do's here in California because we both might be moving in June and we have to live it up. 5 months..dang I cant believe that if we decide to go.
Can't wait for Mom and Aunt Toni Ann and Lorann to come at the end of this month.
Hope you all are well.
Love
