Joe and I escaped life this weekend and went camping at the Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan. Sleeping Bear Dunes was rated the most beautiful place in America and we'd have to agree that the place is pretty stunning. We went camping at Platte River Campground. Had an awesome camping spot and fell asleep listening to acorns dropping and looking at the stars in the pitch dark. The area is surrounded by Birch, Oak, Maple and Pine tree's. Fisherman fish for Salmon and surfers surf Lake Michigan. There is literally something to do for everyone. You can ski, wake board, fish, surf, hike, bike, kayak, canoe.... We spent Saturday exploring Glen Arbor and hiking Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes that over looked Lake Michigan. The Dunes were 450 feet above the water and Joe and I had a great time jumping down the sand but not so much fun climbing up. Haha! Glen Arbor is the largest cherry producers in the country so we tasted the local cherries dipped in chocolate. Yum!
We played cards and ate dinner around our campfire after our day in town. I fell in love with the place. There is a place where you can rent tubes and float down the Platte River that leads into Lake Michigan. It's amazing. We are planning another trip in the Summer and if anyone wants to tag along please do! I would want to show everyone this place. It has a feel of Tahoe and Pacific Grove but gives a New England feel with Midwest people.
Enjoy the photos. Hope everyone had a great weekend.
