those poor babies. they were just babies. innocent children and caring adults teaching our future. my heart. it's in pieces. there is nothing to do for help heal the pain that occurred today. except pray. Pray for the families, for the perished and for the ones who survived that will have to live with this for the rest of their lives.

Hometown Humble Brag!!
National Geographic Magazine named The Hudson Valley the top best trips of 2013. How amazing is that? In love with that story. I can't believe the Nat Geo finally caught on to such an amazing place!
Best of the World 2013
Got wanderlust? We’ve got your ticket. The National Geographic Traveler editors present the new year's 20 must-see places.

New York’s original art show
Not even Rip Van Winkle could sleep through the cultural clarion of today’sHudson Valley. The legendary snoozer in Washington Irving’s tale might descend from his Catskill Mountains hollow to find some of the country’s best folk musicians at the Clearwater Festival in Croton-on-Hudson. Founded by now 93-year-old Pete Seeger, the festival marks its 35th anniversary in 2013. “The Hudson must surely be one of the world’s most extraordinary streams,” says Seeger. “Other rivers are longer and start higher, but my wife and I and our daughter look every day from the windows of our two-room house and see the Hudson. Bless it!”
Just a couple hours north of New York City, this is a land of mom-and-pop shops, “u-pick” wildflower fields, and organic farm stands where “chain” is a four-letter word. Between the Culinary Institute of America grads too enchanted to leave Hyde Park and the influx of NYC chefs realizing the land is greener (and apartments bigger) here, area eateries such as Blue Hill at Stone Barns are stoking locavore passions.
Artists of all media find their muses here. Take a drive to the newly expanded Hudson River School Art Trail to see 17 sites in New York that inspired America’s great mid-19th-century landscape paintings. “The views that compose the art trail are a national treasure,” says Elizabeth B. Jacks, director of the Thomas Cole National Historic Site. Or visit museums such as the outdoor Storm King Art Center sculpture park to see the work of contemporary visionaries.
Some villages marry art and music famously. In the wonderfully weird and artsy Woodstock, indie performers and music icons rub elbows and grab crusty loaves at Bread Alone Bakery. Budding musicians bring their bongos to the weekly hippie drum circle on the Village Green.
Much like Rip, Hudson Valley wanderers often wake up to find this is where they long to rest their vagabond souls. —Sascha Zuger
Travel Tips
When to Go: May-October; fall foliage and harvest festivals mid-September through October.
Where to Stay: The Olde Rhinebeck Inn’s mid-Hudson Valley location north of Hyde Park and easy access to the New York State Thruway (I-87) make the historic bed-and-breakfast an ideal base for area day trips. Original architectural details in the restored 1745 farmhouse include wide plank living room floors and hand-hewn chestnut beams.
How to Get Around: Driving offers the most flexibility. From New York City, drive north on either side of the Hudson River via I-87 (tolls) or U.S. 9W on the west or the scenic Taconic State Parkway or Route 9 on the east. Add a boat cruise (May-October, Hudson River Cruises) or scenic train ride (Metro-North Railroad).
Where to Eat or Drink: Book a table two months in advance at elegant Blue Hill at Stone Barns. Menus list the day’s fresh ingredients. Identify any you don’t want in your Farmer’s Feast (five courses, $108; eight courses, $148; 12 courses, $208).
What to Read Before You Go: Hudson River Valley Farms: The People and the Pride Behind the Produce, by Joanne Michaels and Rich Pomerantz (2009). Illustrated, insider’s portrait of 44 Hudson Valley farmers and their farms includes driving directions to each featured farm, plus a directory of nearly a hundred local farmers markets.
Fun Fact: Sleepy Hollow Cemetery is the final resting place of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow author Washington Irving. Other notable residents include Harry and Leona Helmsley, whose lavish mausoleum offers Manhattan skyline views (on a stained-glass window).

Somewhere, in the midst of academics and other life stress's, I forgot. I forgot how beautiful a world can be. How beautiful one can learn from playing in this amazing playground. How fortunate we are to have beauty. How lucky one is to be able to see it.
I was looking at pictures tonight of California and how it's so strange that it was 7 months ago we lived there. I was then looking at pictures of New York and realized that I don't live there anymore. I haven't lived in NY in almost 3 years. Life is strangely beautiful and weird.
It's crazy trying to think of what our next stop will be. Funny, before I always wanted to know but as the years past, and the adventures flourish, I don't want to know. I don't want to limit my mind to a place because I could be missing out on somewhere that will probably present itself of where we are to be. At that moment.
I never pictured living in Indiana, let alone Fort Wayne. Yet, if I limited my mind to never coming here, then I wouldn't have had any of these experiences I've had in the last 7 months. You know what I mean?
School wouldn't have happened, no Michigan or Notre Dame or Chicago trips, no being close to Joe's family.
Fort Wayne isn't forever but it's serving it's purpose. And that's all you can wish for, for where ever you are to be. That it is serving the purpose to your growth, whether it be personal or professional. Don't ever be stuck somewhere and not know what you are doing there. Remember your goals, small or big. And enjoy the beauty. Even if you think there is none. Go get lost, turn your cell phone off and enjoy your moments because time keeps on moving even when you are not.

Happy Happy 2nd Year!
Joe and I spent the weekend in Chicago to celebrate our anniversary! It was so much fun! We left Saturday morning and spent the day walking around the city, pub crawling, grabbing dinner in Little Italy and a little more pub crawling :)We stayed at The Drake near Michigan Ave. Thank you Momma Linda and Papa Darrell. Side note: My parents bought us this beautiful antique chinese vase Momma Sheila bid on. It's stunning. I will post pics of it soon.
Sunday we walked around a beautiful neighborhood that reminded me so much of Brooklyn Heights. We met with our cousin, Jordan, for brunch at this place called Hash House Agogo. The portion size was insane! So good! We left Chicago and headed home. On our way home we stopped at Notre Dame to see the campus. I've never explored the campus. Joe has been to a couple of games. It's beautiful! I hope we can go to a game soon! Anyways, I love Chicago. I'm hoping to go back to see the play, Book of Mormon, if anyone is interested in joining me!
Grilled Artichoke, yum!
Our first stop
Hole in the wall place, loved it
Dug's
How I miss tall building!
I loved this view from our window. It is what cities are all about. Loved the stairs.
A cupcake ATM. Amazing!
Love these scrabble coasters!
Fried Chicken, bacon, mash potatoes, cheese, served with a creamy sauce
Eggs benedict with smoke bacon, fresh tomato and basil, biscuit and mash potatoes served with a red pepper sauce.
Hope everyone's weekend was great.
Love to all
Cori

Do you believe in signs? I'm not sure if I ever shared this story but it's a good one:
Back when I was working in NY, before I met Joe, I would always cross paths with this one therapist who worked at the hospital. Vassar Hospital was pretty big and I would constantly run into people all the time, but it was this one employee who for some reason I was strangely drawn to. Whether it be us in the same elevator, sitting across from each other in the cafe, driving next to her, walking into work together..But anyway, for a while this kept happening. It wasn't something to think much about it but just simply shrug your shoulders and go about your day.
I was having some personal things going on in my life, I moved, was battling with big changes and trying to figure out what my next move was in life. I was shadowing different career's, feeling somewhat lost.I had just booked my first solo trip and was going to start rebuilding my life. After a couple of months, I stopped running into this girl. It was right around the time that I met Joe. One our first date (we went to the Walkway on the Hudson) we talked about life and the conversation came up on how he got the travel job at Vassar. Turns out, that girl that I kept running into, went on maternity leave, so they needed a therapist to fill in for her. Vassar ended up calling Joe's friend, Danny, first to offer him the job. Danny had just been offered a job in Alaska and recommended Joe. Joe accepted and he started the next week. Life is filled with these moments. These "what if's". What if that girl never got pregnant? What if Joe had gotten a call a week earlier to work in Alaska instead of his friend, Danny. What if I never declined graduate school a year earlier to take that Vassar job. Would we have met? I remember I first saw Joe on a Friday in the deli. I didn't know him but I remember feeling something. I spent that weekend with my friend Tamara going to a concert and feeling this presence and I couldn't stop thinking about him. What was that? I know I didn't make it up. I've always knew he existed but it was when I wasn't looking he showed up.
He did show up and I am so thankful to be called his wife.

11/21 - Wednesday :: Alpha Male Gorillas :: to benefit the St. Francis Food Pantry
Website:AlphaMaleGorillas.com
To benefit the St. Francis Food Pantry, Newburgh, NY. The Food Pantry serves the needs of hundreds of needy families in the City of Newburgh and surrounding areas, Friday and Saturday mornings of every week. All artist donations from this show will benefit this wonderful organization and the people it continually helps.
Alpha Male Gorillas presents listeners with an inflection of multiple styles, traversing through areas of rock, blues, hip hop and reggae, with elements of psychedelic. The band coined the term "HeaVy Mellow" in 2010 while recording their second album, "No Working Title" to put a name on the feeling being recorded. The band is making a lasting impact in the Hudson Valley, playing a steady circuit of bars, clubs, and festivals in the area who regularly show the Gorillas love and respect, and don't mind the noise. AMG has heart, soul, brain, and braun. AMG has consistently headlines the biggest small festival in New York, MAZZSTOCK since 2008. Like AMG, Big Lee Mazzola's mandatory annual all night jam session has grown and shown maturity each year, but thankfully not too much. Originals and original covers, played over a whole spectrum of style and emotion, through a rockin live show, all for our enjoyment. AMG will bug you out.

The family and friends of George Rosenstein are uniting to raise money to help with his battle against lung cancer.
George was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer and underwent surgery the day after Christmas 2010, unfortunately the surgeon was unable to remove his tumor as it was wrapped around his bronchial tubes. George then underwent 3 months of intensive chemotherapy and radiation. The day that his treatment was completed he was notified that he must return to work as his FMLA had expired. He continues to commute 3 hours each day from home to work. George undergoes a Pet scan every 6 months so that the doctors will know if his cancer has spread. He just celebrated his 62nd birthday with the hope of retirement in his future. Unfortunately we have too much debt to allow George to stop working at this time. Each day George must find the strength to go to work another day. I pray that he stays strong but I wish he could have time in his life to enjoy the time he has left. Your donation could help make his Dream come true.
