Grammy surprise..

Watching the Grammy's tonight and the best new artist category came up. Of course everyone wanted Justin Bieber to win but the grammy went to Esperanza Spalding. Like most, I was like who? Then I youtubed her and fell in love. She's a phenomenal jazz musician. The grammy's are mainstream so in a way it is shocking that it did not go to one of the biggest pop stars but it's actually quite refreshing to see her win. Justin is very talented but it's music like this that brings me to another level. It reminds me of how much my Dad appreciates jazz and would insist I listen to Muddy Waters and Herbie Hancock and much more.
